Excited to go to University, but have not decided what to take with you. Well, speaking of this I remember how it was for me when I first got to my University. I was loaded up with one trolley, one luggage bag, and one Backpack. It is really important to have a clear picture of what to take and what to leave as you may end up leaving essential stuff and packing unnecessary items on your way to the university.
Here in this guide, I have mentioned the important checklist which will help you decide your baggage properly. So let’s get started.
As you are visiting first time after getting selected, you have to pack all the important documents. You will be required to submit a copy of the important document in order to complete your admission and accommodation process.
- Bank Passbook
- Academic Transcripts(School Certificates)
- University documents
- PAN Card
- Aadhar Card(for Indian resident)
- Driving License(if available)
- Passport-sized photographs
Note: Please cross-check all the documents required by your university, in order to avoid any mishappening. Also, I would suggest you make an online backup of all your document to keep them handy in case of need. You can use Google Drive for keeping an online backup of your document.
- Pen and Pencils
Note: It is not necessary to bring all stationary items at once because many of them may not be required at the initial and you can purchase those after getting done with the university process. Only keep minimal & required stationery items with you.
- Mobile Phone and Charger
- Laptop and Charger
- USB Drive
Note: Handle electrical items carefully and take electrical gadgets which you will use.
Some universities offer mess facilities for students, but if this facility is not available in your University or you are planning to rent accommodation then you need to have basic Kitchen items with you.
Below are some Kitchen items that you can keep in your backpack:
- knives and chopping board
- wooden spoon
- saucepans and a frying pan
- vegetable peeler
- Recipe book
Tip: If living in shared accommodation, then you should consider marking all your Kitchen Essential to identify them easily. If you are living in shared accommodation, you can read my post on How to live in shared Accommodation: A Survival Guide
- Formal Wear (t-shirts, jumpers, trousers)
- Casual wear
- Winter Coat and jacket
- Shoes & Slippers
Clothing should be packed according to the weather condition of the place you are leaving, as it will help you decide which type of cloth are required.
- Pillow Covers
- Alarm Clock
- Laundry Bin
- Clothes Hangers
It is better to keep multiple blankets in your backpack, as I remember it being very cold there. Also keep extra pillow covers and bedsheets with you.
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Shampoo and Conditioner
- Washing detergent
Medications(Any prescribed by a doctor)
Basic First-Aid kit (pain relief, cold, digestion medicines)
